INTRODUCING... THE AMAZING... THE ONE AND ONLY... WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!!!!!!! One of the childhood classics of MY time, this is an AMAZING book. And we're not talking about the movie here. We're talking about THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC!!! (Please excuse the capitalizations). You know, I did see the movie; and I LOVED it. So, I think we all Know the story here. Either way, I'm still going to tell you.
Max gets in trouble and is sent to his room, where he starts imagining that his room turns into a forest and that there is a boat with his name on it. However, in the movie, Max runs away until he reaches a forest. The wild things are: Carol, KW, Douglas, Alexander, Ira, Judith, and the Bull. In the book they don't have names. I don't really have a favorite part, but you might.
It is a very sentimental book, more sentiment than action. Anyone would love it. Right? Read the book! Watch the movie! And grab a drink in the process!

LOL - Grab a drink!
ReplyDeleteThe rumpus is the best (we have a special song we sing during that part of the book).
And, don't miss the Sendak exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in SF that runs through January. Maddy went with her class and loved it!
I loved this book, too. And I also loved the movie. And the soundtrack. And therefore? I SUPPORT ANY AND ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
ReplyDeleteI DO have a favorite part--"Let the wild rumpus begin!!" Sounds like my favorite part is the same as Mary and Maddy's!
ReplyDeleteThe movie soundtrack was also great. I heart Karen O.
Genie: :-)
Yeah... It IS a great book, don't you think?

ReplyDeleteWhat a great review! My favorite part is also the Wild Rumpus, which was also Jackson's favorite part, that is, when we used to read the book to him and dance and sing and be very silly. But my other favorite part is when Max gets home, and there's his dinner, still hot.
ReplyDeleteNow I think I need a drink... :)
Mmmm... Dinner.
