TTTIIIMMMEEE TTTRRRAAAVVVEEELLL

Get ready for some time traveling fiction!!! The Book of Time, by Guillaume Prevost, is a story about Sam Faulkner, a boy whose dad has disappeared. Oh, and his mom is dead. When searching around his dad's bookstore, he finds an old time machine. To operate the time machine, Sam places a coin with a hole in the middle into the time machine.
The time machine takes Sam to an island of really strict Christian monks. Past, present, or future? You decide (actually, it's past, but I'd hate to spoil the surprise)! He's taken to a bunch of different time periods, ending in Bruges, a medieval town. Here, the best part takes place. If you pay attention, you'll learn a devastating secret that could change Sam's present.

AND Sam's mean aunt is in love with some precarious jerk who dislikes Sam. I'd say he has a death wish on Sam. He booed Sam at the karate tournament, and he wouldn't let Sam see his cousin. "Your aunt says your a bad influence," he said. Oh, and get this: Sam's cousin's e-mail username is boyonthebeach. Do I sound like a gossip magazine? If I do, I'm going to leave.

GROSS!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only is this book really rotten, there's BARF included!!! This book is The Big Blueberry Barf Off! by R.L. Stine, the first book in the Rotten School series. Rotten School is a DIS-GUSTING boarding school run by duck-like Headmaster Upchuck. Bernie Bridges (the main character and narrator), Chipmunk (an INCREDIBLY shy kid), Belzer (Bernie's assistant), Feenman and Crench (Bernie's best friends), Sherman (Bernie's archenemy, also the richest kid at Rotten School), Beast (his name says it all), Jennifer Ecch (she loves Bernie), April-May June (Bernie's "girlfriend-to-be"), and Wes Upwood (the coolest kid around) are all kids in the school. So when Sherman shows everyone his awesome watch, Bernie decides he'll do ANYTHING to get it.

If YOU get grossed out, DON'T BLAME IT ON ME!!! When I read it, I was GROSSED-OUT (Actually, I thought it was pretty funny.)!!! The moral of this story? Don't buy rope t-shirts!!! Now, some of you may be wondering, "what do rope t-shirts have to do with barf?" Well you'll find out if you read this book. = ) WARNING: don't read this book before lunch!!!

Aaahhh... another Goosebumps book, another fright. This one is Night Of The Living Dummy, the first in the Living Dummy series. So, in this book, a girl named Lindy finds a ventriloquist's dummy in a trash pile next door (the house is under construction. Can you guess why?). Her twin sister Kris becomes jealous and gets a dummy of her own, which she names Mr. Wood. After that, strange ( and I mean STRANGE) things start to happen.

This book probably has a scarier cover than plot. BUT, that's my opinion. This is a mildly scary book, but the second is scarier. So... if you like your socks, don't read this book. It's NOT a book for wimps. It-way is-way ery-vay cary-say. In other words, it's a scary book. They don't cal it Goosebumps for nothing!!!

Big Brilliant Book of Bart Simpson

Well, this is the Big Brilliant Book of Bart Simpson (or BBBBS, for short). This is a collection of Bart Simpson comics, numbers 25-28. The stories are focused on Bart, Lisa, and their friends.

The first comic, Prince of Pranks, includes the stories: Comics Fan No More, in which Bart becomes Comic Book Guy's assistant at the comic con; Box Office Bingo, in which Bart and his friends buy tickets to G-rated movies and sneak into R-rated ones; and Cross Country Clown, in which Bart and Homer win free tickets to Krusty's Kalifornia Experience and end up sitting next to Krusty the Clown on the plane.

The second comic, Big Spender, includes the stories: Bart Gets Stumped, where Bart and Milhouse try to protect their treehouse from getting cut down; Mayor Maggie, where Maggie dreams that she is mayor; and Stink & Stinkability, where Bart goes on a stink strike.

The third comic, Sneaky Pete, includes the stories: Hot Air Bufoon, in which Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse go soaring above Springfield in a hot air balloon; The Case of the Sax Solo Saboteur, in which Lisa tries to figure out who is trying to ruin her solo; and No Purchase Necessary, in which Bart searches for a winning game piece.

The fourth and final comic, Straight Shooter, includes the stories: Lisa the Vampire Croaker, where Lisa and Bart become vampire hunters; Milhouse...The Girl?, where Milhouse sells Girl Scout Cookies; Bart Goes To The Movies, where Bart tries to get into the movies without a ticket; and Angry Dad in "Trimming The Hedges", where Bart writes a comic about Homer.

I love this book because not only is it filled with hilarious comics, it's about the Simpsons. And the Simpsons are hilarious. So, you see, there's no reason not to read it!!!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

This book is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry's third year at Hogwarts. For those of you who don't know who Harry Potter is, he's the dude with the lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. His friends at Hogwarts are Ron Weasley (the red-head) and Hermione Granger (the smart girl). You might ask "why did Jasper review the third book instead of the first/second/fourth/fifth/sixth/seventh?" Well, I'll tell you. I haven't read the 6th or 7th yet, and I like the third the best.

In this book, Harry is in danger of being murdered by notorious Sirius Black (you'll find out who he is if you read the book), who is believed to be working alongside Voldemort (the bad guy). Hagrid (the half-giant) adopts a hippogriff named Buckbeack, who is sentenced to execution. This is the first book that actually gets close to Voldemort's appearance. What I mean by that is that a whole new cast of characters is introduced. Some of the new people are Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Wormtail.

Now, for those of you who haven't read any of the Harry Potter books, I advise you to start with the first. But, what do I know? A great book!!! Five out of five stars!!! And I don't care what those critics say!!!

Monster Blood

Now is the time for some HORROR (actually it was a while ago, but now it's too late...or is it?)!!! And it's coming in the form of...MONSTER BLOOD!!! Goosebumps: Monster Blood is a terrifying book. The name says it all...MONSTER BLOOD!!!

In Monster Blood a kid named Evan goes to Atlanta to stay with his deaf great-aunt Kathryn. There he meets a tomboy named Andy, who shows him around the town. Together they find a can of monster blood at an old toy store and purchase it. A few days after opening it, it starts to bubble and gurgle and grow.

I don't want to spoil this short book's plot, so I won't. But I'll tell you one thing: this is only the first book in the Monster Blood series. The other books are Monster Blood II,III,IV, and Monster Blood For Breakfast. If you read this book, be prepared for nightmares!!! Side effects include screaming, yelling, sleeping with a night light, and wetting the bed. Flashlight not included.

The 1 and only Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

INTRODUCING... THE AMAZING... THE ONE AND ONLY... WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!!!!!!!!! One of the childhood classics of MY time, this is an AMAZING book. And we're not talking about the movie here. We're talking about THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC!!! (Please excuse the capitalizations). You know, I did see the movie; and I LOVED it. So, I think we all Know the story here. Either way, I'm still going to tell you.

Max gets in trouble and is sent to his room, where he starts imagining that his room turns into a forest and that there is a boat with his name on it. However, in the movie, Max runs away until he reaches a forest. The wild things are: Carol, KW, Douglas, Alexander, Ira, Judith, and the Bull. In the book they don't have names. I don't really have a favorite part, but you might.

It is a very sentimental book, more sentiment than action. Anyone would love it. Right? Read the book! Watch the movie! And grab a drink in the process!

The Mysterious Benedict Society

This is an AMAZING book. I LOVED it when I read it. It's full of action and suspense and (finally) kid power. The first book in the series, it's got a very good plot that I wouldn't want to spoil.

Alright, I'll tell you anyway. Four "orphans", Reynie Muldoon, Sticky Washington, Constance Contraire, and Kate Wetherall all pass strange tests and form a secret society under the orders of Nicholas Benedict. Their mission? To save the world from Mr. Benedict's evil twin. Their chances of succeeding? A hundred to one. BUT, they've got their skills, so they'll make it, right?

A great book! And that goes for people of all ages! Read it as soon as you can! Honestly! That's an order! So why are you still here?

The First Book On This Blog

This book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4. It's witty; it's funny; it's awesome. When I read it, I loved it. The main idea is that Greg (in case you don't know who that is, he's on the cover) is going into high school and is TRYING to enjoy his summer vacation. A must-read for fans. Five stars. :-) You'd love it.
